About Us
For a number of years
a concern was expressed that an organization was needed that would meet the
interests of rural and urban needs - an organization that would have
government backing to meet these concerns. A number of people worked
energetically to get a minimum of 50 members - a requirement for a charter -
and an application was made. On November 5, 1974, the Thorsby Agricultural
Society received its charter with 132 members.
One of the objectives
of the Society was to construct a facility that would permit indoor agricultural
activities. Working with all the community organizations in the Thorsby district,
the Thorsby Haymaker Centre was constructed.
The Thorsby Haymaker Centre
is an indoor facility for all your agricultural needs. We host a great variety of events
from Amateur, High School & Senior Rodeos, Team Penning & Roping, Public Riding,
4H Shows, Gymkanas, Barrel Racing, Horse Shows & Sales, Green Colt Night, Novice Learn
to Ride Night, Clinics, Bulloramas, Beef Shows & Sales, etc.
Our heated indoor facility consists of a 195 x 100 riding arena, with a seating
capacity of over 500. We offer 100 outdoor covered box stalls, a wash rack, holding
pens, an outdoor 250 x 100 arena and camping facilities, complete with hookups and
showers. We also are proud to host an outstanding concession that is known far and
wide.
The Thorsby Haymaker
Centre is located in central Alberta and is an Arena for all the communities at large.
We welcome and look forward having you and your families participate in the events that
are held at the Arena.
We hope that you have enjoyed your visit.
